Leadership

Kids First Initiative is led by...

Ed Sawyer, a fifth-generation Cincinnatian. His family's history of community involvement includes his grandfather donating land to establish Sawyer Park and his uncle John helping to bring the Cincinnati Bengals to the city with Paul Brown. Ed, a former math teacher and Athletic Director, has devoted his life to education and athletic programs, fueling his passion for helping young people start off on the right foot and fostering collaborative efforts among local non-profits.

Tom Santen, a fourth-generation Cincinnatian, co-leads the initiative. Tom's family legacy includes his uncle Harry founding the CISE – Catholic Inner-City Schools Education system, which offers educational opportunities to impoverished families through privately funded parochial schooling. Along with his father Bill, Tom initiated Helping Hands, a volunteer program supporting Cincinnati’s community services. His previous roles include Board President of Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen and positions with Tender Mercies and Hospice of Cincinnati.
